BIO
Tom Wolf is a First Nations artist and Cofounder of Birrin Birrin, a disability-led studio platform based in Victoria, Australia. His practice operates across contemporary painting, cultural knowledge systems, and lived experience, positioning art as both expression and infrastructure.
Drawing on ancestral connections to Country, Wolf’s work explores totems as active, relational entities — including the turtle, eagle, and serpent — embodying protection, transformation, and continuity. His visual language combines layered acrylic, pattern, and symbolic form to create works that are both personal and culturally grounded.
Alongside his artistic practice, Wolf has developed Birrin Birrin as a model for disability-led support that centres autonomy, creative life, and culturally safe environments. The platform bridges gaps between care systems and creative practice, enabling sustained participation in both.
In 2026, Wolf is exhibiting in Threads of Country: Totems, Time, and Transformation at Obsidian Bide Art Gallery & Studio, presenting works that engage deeply with identity, memory, and living cultural systems.
His work sits at the intersection of contemporary Indigenous art, disability-led practice, and platform-building — contributing to new ways of thinking about support, authorship, and cultural production.
